A wee comission

Thought you might like to see a wee comission I completed for a very lovely lady,  It is a gift ruby red flower sunhanger, prettyfulfor a ruby wedding, the flower is a lovely deep red, ruby red glass..it is surrounded by little copper love hearts.  Prettyful.

If you ever have a comission idea, run it by me, I love a challenge. x

A wooly jumper!

One of my girlies made this, he has such a lovely face.  I believe it was a kit from the wool marketing board to promote pure British Wool!!  It was meant for wee kiddies but as we are all young at heart !! we had a go.  It was basically a big pom pom with a cardboard face that you could decorate and little legs to stick into the wool (with glue). A great rainy (or snowy) day project.    He is a cutie!

FOLKSY bling

Tomorrow FOLKSY begins anew, re brandied, new fab logo and hopefully it will bring a lot more people to our collective door.  FOLKSY is a big e commerce store of British handmade goodies, the best way to enjoy it is to pour a wee glass of something and let your fingers do the shopping.  You know the score, you get lovely handmade individual goodies and a warm glowy heart fro knowing that you are supporting someone who has taken the time to make things!!! simple as that.  Have a wee look, you will find me there and tell a friend about us to pass on the love!!

Here are some prettyful things I have found on FOLKSY

Dichroic !! A brief explination.

an image of a piece of dichroic glass for fusingI have just updated the page on my site explaining what dichroic glass actually is, have a wee look.  How it is made is truly fascinating.  What I didn't explain is that it is made on a round piece of glass!  A  whole sheet of dichroic glass still as a circle is oh ! so ! expensive, but looks beautiful a work of art in intself without doing anything to it.

How hot was Friday!!!

Totally tropical was what it was in the craft tent at gardening Scotland!  I don't think I have ever been so hot in my life!!   Much ice cream had to be eaten in an attempt to keep cool!!!

Apart from the heat and the abrupt return to normal Scottish weather on Saturday and Sunday, Prettyful had a great weekend at Ingliston.  I  met as usual lots of new lovely crafters and  lots of prettyful things went home to new homes,  the sneak preview decorative glass has gone!  along with many of its brothers and sisters!!

I carried a camera with me for 3 days and never got around to taking a photograph !!

Well Newbattle celtic fair was a hoot! The suns shone for us which alone was amazing after all the bad weather we have had.  I had daisies growing around my table can I say any more!  And what an interesting bunch of people, breton dancing, facepainting, storytelling, poetry and scrummy food!  A good day for all.  WE had our photos taken by Midlothian Tourist Board!!  Here is my lovely daughter Maeve who was my able assistant for the day.  Prettyful

start of a new blog!

Why Prettyful!

Its a silly word my kids used when they were little, you know the kind, silly family words that only mean something to you.  Well it was but it seems that they have invented it along with millions of others as I come accross it now and again.  It is a nice word though..  I have developed a wee problem with it though.  If I am typing the word pretty now I often type prettyf !  So if you see it as you wander through the site forgive me.

2 minute biog of me!

My name is Audrey, I live in Clackmannanshire Scotland.  I am the Mummy of Prettyful which was born out of necessity due to the large amounts of glass stuff piling up in the house !!!!

I am always making something or other, always have been.  I loved art at school and this led me to going to college in Sheffield doing a degree in silvermithing and jewellery.  Loved it great city,  used to drink in the same bar as Matin Fry of ABC. (my claim to fame)

After having a business selling silver through craft fairs and galleries for a few years I ended up in teaching.  I taught Art and Design to High school pupils throughout Glasgow, Again loved it and the kids.

Now I make prettyful things for you!  I sell through my website, facebook and folksy, craftfairs and a few galleries.  Prettyful is just a year old so it is still early days.

I hope you like my pretty things, keep in touch
